Labels vs Who You Say I Am

Many times the world will put labels on us. That we are too loud. Or too shy. Too smart. Not smart enough. Too "out-there". Or that we keep too much to ourselves. Whatever the world tells us, we stop and listen. And pretty soon, we start living out the labels we have been given. We become so caught up, so self-conscious about what others think of us, that we forget what God thinks of us. Our identity is who God says we are...not how we feel we are, or what the world tells us what we are.
God says we are loved. We are His children. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. We are made for a purpose; on this earth for a purpose. We are worth more than we can ever imagine. Regardless of who we think we are, we are worth dying for. We are loved above all things by the Creator of all things, for the glory of Him who is greater than all things. Always remember that.

Often I struggle with the reality of what I write in my blog posts. Things I'm too scared to even admit to myself. Things that are difficult to get a grip on, even as I'm writing it. And the thought that people are reading what I'm going through - that they're are getting a glimpse of what I'm too afraid to say out loud - actual terrifies me. This post especially has been a hard one to swallow. I've fallen victim to believing the labels placed on me so many times, that I often forget that my identity is in Christ, and Christ alone. It's often difficult to get my head around the fact that the Creator of all the world, the God of the universe, loves me. Created me for a purpose. At this particular time in history. To make a difference.

Stay awesome,
Esther x
